Christmas Musings #1

It was a little after half past one when the vicar took to the stage. He ascended the steps to the podium and strolled over to the lectern.

"I'd like to thank you all for coming," he began, "and for making this a rousing success. I'd also like to thank the choir for singing so well."

There was a murmur of approval from the audience: considering it was the first concert by the office choir, it hadn't been bad at all.

"Believe it or not, the church is this full on Christmas Eve as well. If any of you are in the area, then you'd be most welcome to come along to our Christmas services next week. Also, don't forget that the church is open all day. I used to have an office job, and sometimes on a lunch break I just needed some space. So I know what it's like.

"I also know that some of you already come here during your lunch hour," the vicar went on. You're always welcome, if you just want to come here and have a bit of space, so please feel free to drop in whenever you want. I promise you won't be molested."

Maybe I just think too much about the wrong kinds of things, but this strikes me as a really, really poor choice of words...
